Frequently Asked Questions
How much notice is required before I book my graduation outfit?
We advise to book early. Booking typically closes 5 days before your ceremony.
What can I do if I am too late to order my outfit on-line?
You will be able to place a late order. Please attend early on the day of graduation and our staff will help you. Payment can be made on graduation day using all major debit or credit cards.
I’m not sure what degree I am on?
We are sorry but we are unable to tell you what you’re degree title should be, please ask your course tutor or the university or college registry.
What forms of payment do you accept?
All major Debit or Credit Cards. Unfortunately we cannot accept American Express.
Can I go into my nearest office to place my order in person?
Unfortunately we do not take orders at our offices. All orders should be processed via the website in advance of your ceremony, or for late orders from the allocated gown collection area during your institutions graduation days.
How can I confirm that my order has been placed?
You will receive an email after placing your order, and an SMS message in the days preceding your graduation date, confirming your order number. Please keep this information safe as you will need this to collect your gown.
What should I do if my graduation time or date is changed by the college?
If the date or time of your graduation should change after you have booked your hire outfit, don’t worry. Simply bring your booking reference with you on your new graduation date.
What does ‘Height’ mean?
Your height means the measurement from the top of your head to the ground, without shoes. This can be in metres or feet and inches.
I am unable to print my confirmation e-mail – can I collect my gown without it?
It is not imperative that you have the printed copy, but take a note of the number as it does speed things up at the ceremony. In addition, our representatives will have detailed lists on the day of your ceremony.
Where do I collect my outfit from?
Your university or college has set aside a special area for you to collect your outfit. Details are normally given to you in your graduation information sent by your institute.
How do I get my tickets?
If your university or college has opted to issue event tickets through this website, the graduand’s ticket will be attached to your email confirmation. Guest tickets will be issued on the day of graduation when you are collecting your academic dress.
When can I collect my outfit?
Details will have been given to you by your university or college, however as a general rule Armstrong & Oxford will normally be available to robe you at least two hours before your ceremony.
How will I know how to wear the outfit?
We will help you gown and ensure you are wearing your academic dress correctly.
What does Extended Hire mean?
The normal hire fee is usually for the ceremony and reception. This enables you to wear the outfit for your graduation ceremony and have private and official photos taken at the venue. If you opt for Extended Hire, a return bag will be provided which you can use to return the robes to us. Please note there will be an extra hire fee to pay, payable at time of collection.
Can I return my outfit to my nearest Armstrong & Oxford office?
Gowns must be returned to the returns location after your ceremony, or in the case of extended hire to Unit A1 Omagh Enterprise Centre, Great Northern Road, Omagh, BT78 5LU, Northern Ireland.
